Do you come in a small package too? Erin Kreitz Shirey is a petite 5’1″, but full of
positive energy and determination. Erin is an award winning trainer and the CEO, master trainer, coach, and chief motivator of Power Fitness PDX LLC. She works with generations of men and women on improving themselves from the inside out. Erin believes that it is possible to improve one’s self esteem through athletics, and wants to “Challenge the POWER of You!” She strives to help her clients, friends and family to not only reach their goals, but surpass them. In addition she helps teach and guide them to incorporate healthy choices into every aspect of their lives; be it coming to Power Fitness PDX, or bike commuting instead of driving. When leading workshops like Women’s Only Boot Camp and Clean Eating Challenge, Erin challenges her clients to go beyond their comfort level, while making them laugh by doing the running man. In 2012, Erin was honored to be named one of the “Top 19 Personal Trainers in Social Media” by Mamavation, and a Top 10 Personal Trainer finalist for Personal Fitness Professional’s International Trainer of the Year Award.
Having faced many personal challenges, including caring for both of her daughters, Makenzie and Emerson, during their life threatening hospitalizations, Erin truly knows how to lead a positive and healthy lifestyle. She is often found blissfully covering her kids faces with kisses, bike commuting throughout the East Bay pulling Emerson in the bike trailer, doing flying cannon balls at the pool or having underwater tea parties with Makenzie and Emerson. She and her husband, Jack, live by the phrase Embrace Life’s Challenges and Erin’s motto is,
“The only thing you don’t get back in life is time; why waste it? Make your time count now.”
Erin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and is ACE Certified, Stott Pilates Mat Certified, TRX Certified, Fit to Deliver Certified. She is also a sports nutritionist, and has written about health, fitness, and family for many publications – including CitySport, Parents Magazine, and Walk About – in addition to her regular column “And the Trainer Sez” for Alameda Magazine. Erin was also a contributing fitness editor for the nationally syndicated TV show Better. She was formerly the conditioning coach for the UC Berkeley men’s lacrosse team.
When not working on fitness, Erin is found running after her two daughters and speedy husband. She’s a competitive triathlete and runner, having placed in many races including: Race for the Roses, Oakland Half Marathon, Hippie Chick, Mermaid Triathlon, Pacific Grove Triathlon, and most notably the See Jane Run 5K – while pushing her youngest daughter in a jogging stroller! She is avidly involved in her family’s foundation, the Believe In ME Foundation, which helps provide quality childcare for siblings of hospitalized children.
